South Carolina vs. Grover Rye

The deceased: Robert Odam, an off-duty police officer

The suspect: Thomas Grover Rye, who claims he found Odam trespassing on his property and then shot him in self-defense.

Charges: Murder found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison

The TWIST?!: the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned his conviction because of paperwork issues and gave him a new trial.

Now he is in the midst of a new trial including a tour of the crime scene...


Grover Rye was acquited after 6 hours of jury deliberation.
