It all started when I clicked the Google logo because its been Cookie Monster and Big Bird feet the last few days and I’m wondered what it is. The first article that comes up is: “Big Bird’s still huge as “Sesame Street’ marks 40th anniversary“. Well then, HOORAY for Sesame Street. I remember watching it as a kid and really enjoying it. The first sentence of the article is something to the effect of BIG BIRD IS LEAVING SESAME STREET. OH NO I cry! Not Big Bird. They can’t have a show without him?! Why?! Who?! Drama!  It follows with he’s not really leaving but sings a song about how he can’t leave and Sesame Street is his home!

IOWA vs. KEHOE

Let the trial begin! Jury selection begins on Wednesday morning, bright and early for Michelle Kehoe. This mother of two is accused of killing her youngest son, Seth (2 yrs old), and seriously injuring her 7yr old son Sean. Police say that Michelle drove the van to “Hook N Liner Pond” took Sean out of the car and proceeded to put duct tape on his eyes, mouth and wrists. She then cut his neck with a knife. Followed by the same thing to the little one Seth before cutting her own throat.

Also found in the van was a hand-written note about an abduction of Michelle Kehoe and children and that it was in-progress. Kehoe later admitted that she purchased the knife, wrote the abduction letter and bringing the duct tape.

If convicted of 1st degree murder, she will face a mandatory life sentence. She is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and child endangerment resulting in serious injury.

The defense may bring up an insanity defense which shifts the burden of proof to the defense team in which they only need a ‘preponderance of evidence’ as opposed to ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ which is a much higher burden.

Prosecutors called 15 witnesses before resting on Tuesday morning including Sean Kehoe who gave a chilling account of what happened.

VERDICT:

Thursday afternoon, after only an hour and a half  of deliberation, a jury convicted Michelle Kehoe of the first-degree murder of her son Seth (2yrs old) in October, 2008.  She was also convicted of attempted murder of her son Seth (then 7).

Though formal sentencing will be on Dec 15 , she is facing a mandatory life sentence without parole.

Charlene Hill is accused of shooting her husband Danny Hill in the late hours of November 14, 2006. The prosecution alleges that her motive for murder was money, having over $1 million after the sale of their business in a joint account. Hill shot him and then called 911 in an effort to save him but he died 4 hours later.  Hill and her defense claim that she is a longtime victim of spousal abuse (over 30 years) and that she only acted in self defense. She did testify in her own defense and it was teary and very moving. She said that she did shoot him but it was only acting in fear that he was going to kill her as well.If convicted she can face up to life in prison.

Verdict: The jury came back on Tuesday Sept. 22, 2009 and they were hung at 11-1 for a conviction. The judge declared a mistrial shortly after.

The wrap-up from 10/23

William George Heirens was born in 1928 and has been in jail since 1946.  He is a convicted serial killer who confessed to 3 murders and has been in jail since. He got the name “lipstick killer” because there were scrawled messages found at each of the crime scenes. There are many questions surrounding his actual guilt. He “confessed” to three murders but it was only after he was questioned for 6 days around the clock, he wasn’t allowed to see his parents or even speak to a lawyer. How is this constitutional? And, and, he was also given sodium pentathol (truth serum) which illicited his first confession. The hard evidence that the prosecution had was a print found on the door jamb of one of the victims as well as a fingerprint on the ransom note. He is the longest serving prisoner in the history of prisons in America. He is up for parole again this year.

So I just took this quiz and I half expected to get something like 40. My age was told to be 29…. and it said:

Real Age

I’ve decided I’m done with everyday life and the only alternative I can see is to move to Disneyland. Not just the hotel, but the park. Yes, I mean it.

So is it possible? In my world yes. Lets first consider lodging. I’d pitch a tent if they’d let me but there is another alternative most notably being the Disneyland Dream Suite.

1) It is conveniently located above Pirates, one of my favorite rides. Which means it also has a nice view of the nightly Fantasmic.

2) It has an amazing bed! (which happens to be a very important part).

3) The bathtub is a dream. I wouldn’t leave it.

As for food, there is food everywhere! Why isn’t this a good idea?
